27 Wellington Square, Ayr

27 Wellington Square is an early 19th-century, three-storey and attic, three-bay classical house located on the east side of Wellington Square. The building features painted render with rubble on the sides, a base course, cill courses at the first and second floors, an eaves course, a cornice, a blocking course, and strip quoins. The window openings have painted margins, and the first-floor windows are adorned with cornices.

The west (entrance) elevation has a central doorpiece that is columned, with a block pediment and cornice. It includes a two-leaf timber door with a letterbox fanlight above. There are single windows aligned above on the first and second floors, as well as single windows flanking all floors. The attic features segmental-arched dormers on the outer left and right.

On the north (side) elevation, there are two single windows at the ground floor, with the outer left window being smaller. The house has four-pane timber sash and case windows, except for the ground floor window on the outer right, which has plate glass, and a modern window on the north elevation. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring stone skews, coped stacks, and polygonal cans. The interior was not seen in 1998.
