2 Wellington Square, Ayr

3 Wellington Square is a pair of classical houses built in the earlier 19th century. The buildings are two stories high with a basement and attic, featuring a symmetrical four-bay design. They are constructed from painted ashlar stone and include banded rustication at the basement, a ground floor band course, an eaves course, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are architraved, with square brackets at the lower cill corners on the ground floor and cornices above the ground floor windows.

On the south elevation, there is a central stepped platform that overhangs the basement, with corniced, consoled doorpieces topped with block pediments. The doors are made of timber and feature a decorative looped letterbox fanlight. Above, there are single windows aligned at the first floor. The flanking bays have regular fenestration at both the ground and first floors. The attic of No 2 has one dormer, while No 3 has two dormers. The basement features a timber door with a narrow letterbox fanlight and single windows on either side for both houses.

The windows throughout are predominantly plate glass timber sash and case, with 12-pane and 4-pane windows at the basement level. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes coped stacks with circular cans.

The interiors were not seen in 1998. The property is also accompanied by railings and gates, featuring ashlar copes topped with spear-headed iron railings, with urn finials marking the sections, and gates located at the outer left and right.
