Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey with basement and attic, 4-bay mirrored pair of classical houses (excluding attic) forming part of terrace. Painted ashlar. Droved rustication at basement; ground floor band and cill course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Architraved windows; cornices to ground floor windows.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central stepped platt oversailing basement; corniced, block-pedimented columnar doorpieces; timber doors; letterbox fanlights; single windows aligned above at 1st floor; timber doors aligned below at basement. Regular fenestration to flanking bays at basement, ground and 1st floors (additional narrow window flanks basement door at No 6). Tripartite dormer to No 5 at attic, single dormer to No 6.

Predominantly plate glass timber sash and case windows (modern glazing to dormer of No 5, 12-pane at basement).

INTERIORS: not seen 1998.

RAILINGS AND GATES: ashlar copes surmounted by spear-headed railings (urn finials delineate sections); gates to outer left and right.
