9 Wellington Square, Ayr

9 Wellington Square is an early 19th-century, two-storey house with a basement and attic, part of a terrace. The building is constructed of painted ashlar and features banded rustication at the basement, a ground floor band course, an eaves course, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are architraved, with square brackets at the lower cill corners on the ground floor and cornices above the ground floor windows.

On the south elevation, there is a central stepped platform that oversails the basement, leading to a corniced doorpiece with a block pediment. The entrance features a timber door with a segmental fanlight above it, and there is a single window aligned above on the first floor. A glazed timber door is aligned below at the basement. The flanking bays have regular fenestration at the basement, ground, and first floors, while the attic has canted dormers on the outer left and right sides.

The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case, with 8-pane windows on the canted sides of the dormers. The roof is covered with grey slate and has coped stacks with circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1998. The property also features ashlar copes topped with spear-headed iron railings, although the urn finials that delineate sections are predominantly missing. The entrance is located to the outer right.
