17 Wellington Square, Ayr

17 Wellington Square is an early 19th-century, two-storey house with a basement and attic, forming part of a terrace. It features a classical design and is constructed of painted ashlar. The building has a ground floor band course, a cornice, and a blocking course, with painted margins around the windows.

On the north (entrance) elevation, there is a central stepped platform that overhangs the basement. The entrance is highlighted by a corniced, block-pedimented columnar doorpiece, which supports a two-leaf boarded timber door with a letterbox fanlight above. A single window is aligned above the entrance on the first floor. The flanking bays have regular fenestration, with a tripartite window on the right at the ground floor. To the left at the basement, there is a two-leaf glazed timber door, with a single window to the right and an infilled central doorway. The attic features two piended dormers on the outer left and right sides.

The windows are plate glass timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes coped stacks with circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1998.
