16 Wellington Square, Ayr

16 Wellington Square in Ayr is an early 19th-century, two-storey house with a basement and attic, featuring three bays and part of a terrace. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar with a cornice and a blocking course, and the openings have painted margins.

On the north elevation, there is a stepped platt that overhangs the basement leading to the central bay, which has a timber door with a letterbox fanlight above. To the outer right, there is a lower-height glazed timber door with a letterbox fanlight and an adjoining window above, along with a small two-pane window to the left and a shopfront fascia above and to the right. The outer left also has a stepped platt leading to a glazed timber door with a pedimented entrance and a double-height letterbox fanlight. The first floor features regular fenestration, and there are boarded timber doors at the basement's re-entrant angles between the central bay and the left bay. The attic has two piended dormers on the outer left and right.

The west side elevation includes a double-height modern shopfront to the left with a recessed glazed timber entrance door, and a single window at the first floor to the right.

The windows are predominantly four-pane timber sash and case, with single panes in the attic. The roof is made of grey slate, featuring coped stacks and circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1998.
