9-11 Academy Street, Ayr

9-11 Academy Street in Ayr is an early 19th-century, two-storey house with a basement and attic, featuring a rectangular plan. The exterior is finished in painted render and includes a base course, a block cornice, and strip quoins, with painted window surrounds.

The northeast (entrance) elevation has steps leading to a deeply recessed, off-centre arched entrance. This entrance features a two-leaf timber door with a plain tympanum above the arched head. There is a small single window above this entrance on the first floor, while a basement opening to the left has been blocked. A single window is aligned above at ground floor level, and there is a timber door leading to a walled entrance on the outer left.

The northwest (side) elevation has three bays with regular fenestration at the basement, ground, and first floors, although the basement windows are blocked. At the attic level, there are three irregularly aligned dormers, with the central dormer being bipartite. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case, with plate glass and a four-pane design in the attic, and textured glazing above the entrance. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring stone skews, coped gablehead stacks, and circular cans on the left stack.

The interior was not seen in 1998.
