Description
7 Cathcart Street in Ayr is an early 19th-century pair of houses that are two stories high with an attic and feature a tympany gable. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar and includes a base course and an eaves course.
On the southwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, there are two deeply recessed central entrances with timber doors and letterbox fanlights. To the outer right, there is a corniced timber doorpiece, a French window, and a letterbox fanlight. The outer left features a glazed timber door with a letterbox fanlight and a shop window to the right, which has a shopfront fascia above. The first floor has regular window arrangements, and there are single segmental-headed dormers on both the outer left and right sides of the attic.
The building has modern glazing throughout, a grey slate roof with rooflights, a corniced stack on the tympany gable, coped brick gablehead stacks, and circular chimney cans that are fluted on the tympany gable.
The interiors were not seen during the inspection in 1998.
