10 Cathcart Street, Ayr

14 Cathcart Street in Ayr is an early 19th-century pair of houses that are two stories high, with a basement and attic, forming part of a terrace. The exterior is made of coursed sandstone rubble, featuring a painted ground floor band course, cornice, and blocking course, along with painted margins around the window openings.

On the northeast elevation, the entrances are located in the penultimate bays on the outer left and right, with stepped platts leading down to them. The entrance on the left is a lower plain margined door with a timber door and a single window above it on the first floor. To the right, there is a more elaborate entrance with a pilastered, corniced, and block-pedimented doorpiece, featuring a raised central panel and two deeply recessed timber doors within a segmental arch, with a single window aligned above on the first floor. The remaining bays have single windows at both the ground and first floors. At the basement level, there are central timber glazed doors with flanking windows on both sides. The attic features four single dormers, with two closely spaced in the center.

The windows are predominantly plate glass timber sash and case, with a 12-pane window on the outer left at the ground floor and a split window at the first floor in the penultimate bay to the right. The basement has modern glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are coped brick stacks with circular cans.

The interiors were not seen in 1998.
