Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey with basement and attic, 4-bay mirrored pair of classical houses (excluding attic) forming part of terrace. Painted ashlar. Droved rustication at basement; ground floor band and cill course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Architraved windows; cornices to ground floor windows.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central stepped platt oversailing basement; corniced, block-pedimented columnar doorpieces; timber doors; letterbox fanlights (4-light to No 8); single windows aligned above at 1st floor; single timber doors aligned below at basement. Regular fenestration at basement, ground and 1st floors to outer bays. Single dormer at attic to No 7, tripartite dormer to No 8.

Predominantly plate glass timber sash and case windows to No 7 (12-pane at basement, 6-pane to upper sash at attic); 12-pane to No 8; rooflights. Grey slate roof; coped stacks; circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1998.

RAILINGS AND GATE: ashlar copes surmounted by spear-headed iron railings (urn finials delineate sections); gate to outer right only.
