7 Wellington Square, Ayr

7 Wellington Square in Ayr is an early 19th-century, two-storey building with a basement and attic, featuring a mirrored pair of classical houses that are part of a terrace. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar, with droved rustication at the basement, a ground floor band and cill course, an eaves course, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are architraved, with cornices above the ground floor windows.

On the south elevation, there is a central stepped platt that oversails the basement, flanked by corniced, block-pedimented columnar doorpieces with timber doors and letterbox fanlights, which have four lights at No 8. Above, there are single windows aligned at the first floor, and below, single timber doors aligned at the basement. The outer bays feature regular fenestration at the basement, ground, and first floors. No 7 has a single dormer in the attic, while No 8 has a tripartite dormer.

The windows are predominantly plate glass timber sash and case, with a 12-pane design at the basement and a 6-pane upper sash at the attic for No 7, and a 12-pane design for No 8. The roof is covered with grey slate and features coped stacks with circular cans.

The interiors were not seen in 1998. The property also includes railings and a gate, with ashlar copes topped by spear-headed iron railings, and urn finials marking the sections, with a gate located to the outer right only.
