Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey with basement and attic, 4-bay mirrored pair of classical houses (excluding attic) forming part of terrace. Painted ashlar. Banded rustication at basement; ground floor band course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Architraved windows; square brackets to lower cill corners at ground floor; cornices to ground floor windows.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central stepped platt oversailing basement; corniced, consoled block-pedimented doorpieces; timber doors; decorative looped letterbox fanlight; single windows aligned above at 1st floor. Regular fenestration at ground and 1st floors to flanking bays. 1 dormer at attic to No 2, 2 dormers at attic to No 3. Timber door; narrow letterbox fanlight; flanking single windows to both Nos at basement.

Predominantly plate glass timber sash and case windows (12- and 4-pane windows at basement); rooflight. Grey slate roof; coped stacks; circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1998.

RAILINGS AND GATES: ashlar copes surmounted by spear-headed iron railings (urn finials delineate sections); gates to outer left and right.
