Description

The Market Cross in Market Square, Duns, dates back to the 18th century and has been dismantled and re-erected at various times. It is constructed from red sandstone, with some replacement stones, and features a modern cream sandstone block plinth and a red sandstone surround. The cross consists of a single Roman Doric column that stands on a panelled pedestal. Above this, a triglyph frieze supports an overhanging cornice stone adorned with guttae. The entire structure is topped with a cubic sundial and an acorn finial.
