Description

Late 19th century. 3-storey L-plan house with shops at ground on corner site. Coursed stugged cream sandstone with polished dressings; rubble to rear.

NE (MURRAY STREET) ELEVATION: 2-bay with 5-bay polished ashlar shopfronts at ground. Shops with base course, basket-arched openings with moulded angles, fascia and moulded cill course to 1st floor; 2-leaf panelled doors to 2nd and 4th bays (1 blocked) with plate glass windows between; panelled pilaster at corner. 1st floor with round-headed bipartite window to each bay. At 2nd floor bipartite windows breaking eaves with pedimented dormerheads. Moulded eaves.

NW (MARKET SQUARE) ELEVATION: broad left bay detailed as above with single shop window disposed to left between panelled pilasters; chamfered angle at ground corbelled to square at fascia. 4-bays set back to right; left bay with panelled door and plate glass letterbox fanlight; pedimented overdoor supported on brackets. Upper floors with window to each bay.

SE ELEVATION: 4-bay; window to each bay to upper floors.

SW ELEVATION: blank gable to right.

Timber sash and case windows; 4- and 3-horizontal-pane to 1st and 2nd floors respectively to front; 12-pane to rear. Grey slates; ashlar coped stacks; corniced brick apex stacks with ashlar bases.
