Description
6 Murray Street in Duns is an earlier 19th-century building that has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay former coach house, harled with ashlar dressings. The ground floor features Tudor-arched openings with modern glazing, including a central door, a window to the right, and a glazed carriage arch to the left. On the first floor, there is a window in each bay that breaks the eaves, with gabled dormer heads. The central gable head is broader and includes a blind flight hole and a narrower canopied window, while the outer gable heads have lost their ball finials on the right. The rear elevation is not visible.
The windows on the ground floor have plate glass and timber casements, while the first floor features 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the gable ends have ashlar coped gabletted skews with corbel skewputts, along with a brick stack at the apex.
To the west, there is a single-storey rubble barn that is adjoined to the main building, which has two sliding barn doors facing north and skylights. The barn also has a piended roof covered with grey slates.
