Description
36 Wellgate in Lanark is an earlier 19th century building featuring two storeys and an attic. The ground floor is finished with lined painted render, while the upper section is made of droved painted ashlar with painted raised margins. The façade has three bays, with outer pilasters flanking a plain central door and two windows on the ground floor. Above, there is a cornice, and the first floor has three windows with an eaves course above. The building also includes two later canted dormers. The southeast gable end has been modernized with pebble dash, designed to resemble mortar joints, and features one window on the ground floor, one on the first floor, and one in the attic, which breaks through the skew. Access is provided by a door located in the vennel, and there is a modern rear extension.
