Description
11 and 13 Murray Street in Duns is a two-storey and attic house with a shop on the ground floor, built in 1896. The building is constructed from coursed stugged cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings and features roll-moulded arrises. The polished ashlar shopfront includes a central two-leaf shop door flanked by a pair of windows on the right and a pair of narrower windows on the left, along with a corresponding panelled door with a three-pane fanlight at the outer left, which provides access to the upper floor.
On the first floor, there are a pair of tripartite windows, and a date plaque reading "AD 1896" is located at the center. The building has a mansard roof with three pedimented dormers, with the outer dormers being bipartite. The windows are timber sash and case, featuring multipane upper sashes and either plate glass or two-pane lower sashes. The roof is covered with grey slates and has ashlar coped skews, scroll skewputts, and brick stacks.
