17-19 South Street, Duns

17-19 South Street in Duns is an early 19th-century, two-storey and attic, two-bay house that was formerly home to a pair of shops on the ground floor. The building is constructed from dressed rubble sandstone with ashlar dressings, featuring ashlar at the ground level. The two shops are located at the centre, with doors that have letterbox fanlights, flanked by windows. The upper bays contain windows, and there is a piend-roofed canted timber dormer on the right side. The west gable is blank and harled, with a closet window on the first floor, and the ground level has a chamfered rear angle.

The irregular three-bay rear elevation includes a tall stair window on the left, a panelled door at the centre, and windows on both floors to the right. The building features timber sash and case 12-pane windows, with a 4-pane window in the dormer. The roof is covered with grey slates, has ashlar coped skews, and brick stacks at the apex.
