Mayfield, Auchenblae

Mayfield in Auchenblae is a mid-19th century building, though it has older origins. It features a two-storey design with first floor windows that rise above gabled dormer heads with skewputts. The structure is built of rubble with ashlar dressings and has a four-bay frontage. On the ground floor, there is a window and a consoled plain architraved doorpiece situated between rectangular bays, all topped with shallow platformed piended roofs. Above, there are four first floor windows. The north-east gable has ground and low first floor windows that do not have dormer heads. The building has a piended slate roof and a single-storey piended rear outshot with ground and first floor windows, although several windows are blocked and most are four-pane sashes. At the rear, there is an angled wing that includes a segmentally arched coach house door and a pigeon loft above, which has two rows of flight holes in the window opening, with some openings also blocked. The roof of this section is part slate and part corrugated iron.
