Description
112-116 Murray Street is an early 19th century, two-storey and attic, three-bay house arranged in an L-plan within an irregular terrace, featuring a shop at the ground level. The front is constructed of stugged sandstone ashlar, while the rear is harled. It has an eaves cornice, a blocking course, and a central parapet.
On the principal elevation, the shopfront is located to the right at ground level, with a door in the centre. There are two windows to the right and one to the left, all featuring plate glass. To the left, there is a carriage entrance pend, and a blinded window is situated in the centre at the first floor, flanked by timber-mullioned bipartite windows.
The west elevation shows the gable end of the wing to the left, with a semi-circular projecting stair tower in the centre topped with a conical roof. A tall window rises through the floors, with a bay to the right, a pend at ground level, a door to the left within the pend, and a window at the first floor, along with a piended dormer above.
The south elevation adjoins 118 Murray Street on the right and has three blocked openings at ground level on the west wing, with one window to the left at the first floor.
The building features modern timber casement windows, a grey slate roof, stone coped skews, skewputts, a broad brick gablehead stack to the south, and a shouldered brick gablehead stack to the north. The interior was not seen in 1997.
