4 Upper Hall Street, Montrose

4 Upper Hall Street in Montrose is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house that is part of an irregular terrace. The building is constructed of brick, with sections of harl and render, and features stone cills.

On the north elevation, the house has a lined render finish with a door offset to the left at ground level, a boarded window to the right, and three symmetrically placed windows on the first floor. The west elevation adjoins the property at 2 Upper Hall Street. The east elevation has a blank gable end that is harled, with a pilastered and corniced doorpiece to the left set within the boundary wall. The south elevation includes a projecting addition on the right side.

The windows are 4-pane timber sash and case, and the roof is covered with grey slate, featuring harled gablehead stacks on both the west and east sides.

The interior was not seen during the inspection in 1997. The boundary wall is made of brick and harl, enclosing a courtyard to the east.
