Description
Later 19th century with later additions. 2-storey, 3-bay former shop, theatre in irregular terrace. Sandstone ashlar to front with later shopfront at ground, squared and snecked to sides, drydash to rear. Band course above ground floor, 1st floor cill cornice, eaves band course.
W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: mid 20th century shopfront at ground; recessed entrance to centre; large flanking plate glass windows, polished granite panel surrounds. Theatre entrance to right; plain rectangular fanlight, 2-leaf semi-glazed doors. 1st floor; central tripartite window taking form of Serliana with cross-shaped openings above and flanking panelled pilasters. Bays flanking; architraved window with corniced and keystoned head. Decorated pilaster wall ends. Clock and steel name sign to right.
N ELEVATION: gable end adjoining 59 Murray Street.
S ELEVATION: gable end adjoining 67-71 Murray Street.
E ELEVATION: 2 blocked openings to right at ground, door to left, small door to extreme left. 4 windows at 1st floor, small window to extreme left.
Timber-framed windows, 4-pane glazing pattern and plate glass to front, leaded lights and stained glass to rear. Grey slate roof, stone skews, skewputts. Polychrome brick gablehead stacks.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
