Description
21 Murray Lane in Montrose is a workshop and warehouse built around 1900. It is a two-storey, two-bay structure with a gable-ended, rectangular plan, finished in cement render and featuring ornate classical details on the front gable end.
On the principal elevation facing east, there are two doorways at the ground level framed by pilasters. Above the ground floor, a cornice displays the word "PLASTERERS" in relief moulding on the frieze. The first floor has two architraved windows with consoled and pedimented heads, supported by bracketed cills and flanked by Corinthian pilaster ends. Above this, another cornice and frieze showcase "BURNESS & SON" in painted relief moulding. The gablehead is deep and bold, adorned with mutule, dentil, and egg and dart cornices, along with a disc moulding in the tympanum.
The south elevation features a door to the left at ground level and a later window to the right, with steel stairs leading to a central doorway on the first floor, flanked by windows.
The north elevation is adjacent to a neighboring property. The first floor has four-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring coped skews on the west side and rendered gablehead stacks.
