Description
70 and 72 Clerkenwell Road is a workshop or warehouse built around 1875. It features yellow brick set in Flemish bond and stone, with a roof obscured by a parapet. The building stands five storeys high and has a two-window range. The ground floor has a rendered late 20th-century shop front. The upper storeys are arranged in two bays between brick piers that extend to the cornice. On the first floor, there are tripartite windows with stone mullions; the central section has a segmental arch with triangular incisions, while the outer sections feature shouldered arches. The second, third, and fourth floors have windows that span the full width between the piers, divided by two stone mullions each. Below these windows are panels of geometrical ornament. The second and third floors have flat-arched windows, with the design of the mullions and panels likely referencing the building's metalwork. The fourth-floor windows have cambered arches with triangular incisions, topped by a stepped brick cornice.
