27 High Street, Markinch

27 High Street in Markinch is an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house located at the end of a terrace, with later alterations. The building features coursed rubble and harl with ashlar quoins and stone cills, and has an eaves course with stone mullions.

The east elevation facing High Street is symmetrical, with a modern timber door at the center set in a small timber porch. There are later bipartite windows in the flanking bays and three regular windows on the first floor, along with a modern rooflight over the left bay.

On the south elevation, there is a bipartite window to the outer right on the first floor and a flat-roofed extension to the left. The windows are fitted with plate glass glazing in timber sash and case frames. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the building has coped ashlar stacks with cans, ashlar coped skews, and foliate scroll skewputts.

The property is enclosed by a low coped dwarf wall topped with decorative cast-iron railings.
