Description

Before 1840 (see Notes). 3-storey, 3-bay public house with pedimented windowheads, in irregular terrace. Harled with painted margins.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical above ground. Bay to left of centre at ground with 2-leaf part-glazed timber door, flanking heavy pilasters, adjacent fixed window to left and further pilaster beyond, all under deep frieze; altered window to centre bay and door to right with painted sign over. Regular fenestration to each floor above, windows to 2nd floor breaking eaves into decoratively-finialled pedimented dormerheads.

W (ALLAN STREET) ELEVATION: gabled elevation with window to each floor at outer right. Flat-roofed single storey building angled across centre and left bays not included in this listing.

Plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped rendered stacks with thackstanes and some cans.

INTERIOR: bar modern.
