Description

Possibly late 19th century, 2nd storey added after 1920. 2-storey, single bay, shop with dominant ogee dome, on corner site. Brick and harl with mock-half timbering to 1st floor. Brick base course, ground floor cornice and frieze. Timber transoms and mullions.

SW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: ground floor with door to left and fixed display window to right below 4-light transomed window breaking eaves into dormer gablet.

W (CORNER TOWER) ELEVATION: semicircular elevation with tall tripartite window, flanking narrow capitalled cast-iron columns and further flanking lights at ground, frieze and cornice above giving way to corniced 8-light transomed window, frieze and ogee dome.

NW (MILL STREET) ELEVATION: single corniced window to left of centre at ground, and 4-light transomed window breaking eaves into dormer gablet above.

Decorative multi-pane glazing pattern to fixed timber window at ground NW, 6-pane top lights over plate glass glazing apparently in timber sash and case windows to 1st floor. Grey slates to swept roof and fishscale band to dome. Ashlar-coped skew.

INTERIOR: timber dog-leg staircase with tall polygonal newel post; 1st floor coomb ceiling with timbered panels.
