Description

13A Wellmeadow in Blairgowrie is possibly a late 19th-century building that had a second storey added after 1920. It is a two-storey, single-bay shop situated on a corner site, featuring a prominent ogee dome. The exterior is constructed of brick and harl, with mock half-timbering on the first floor. There is a brick base course, a cornice at the ground floor, and a frieze. The windows have timber transoms and mullions.

On the southwest elevation, the ground floor has a door to the left and a fixed display window to the right, which is positioned below a four-light transomed window that breaks the eaves into a dormer gablet. The west corner tower elevation has a semicircular shape with a tall tripartite window, flanked by narrow cast-iron columns with capitals, and additional flanking lights at the ground level. Above this, there is a corniced eight-light transomed window, with a frieze and cornice leading up to the ogee dome.

The northwest elevation, facing Mill Street, features a single corniced window to the left of centre at the ground level, and a four-light transomed window that breaks the eaves into a dormer gablet above. The fixed timber window on the ground level of the northwest elevation has a decorative multi-pane glazing pattern, with six-pane top lights over plate glass glazing that appears to be in timber sash and case windows on the first floor. The roof is covered with grey slates and has a fishscale band on the dome, with ashlar-coped skew.

Inside, there is a timber dog-leg staircase with a tall polygonal newel post, and the first floor features a coomb ceiling with timbered panels.
