Description
40-44 George Street in Stranraer is a late 18th century, two-storey building with an attic, designed as a symmetrical end of terrace shop with a three-bay rectangular plan. The ground floor features a timber fascia, while the first floor is harled. It has a base course, a cornice, quoin strips on the outer left, and architraves around the first-floor windows.
On the south elevation, the entrance consists of a timber and glass door set back in the center, flanked by shop windows on the ground floor. The first floor has three single windows, and there are two dormers on the outer left and right sides.
The property has modern glazing throughout and is topped with a grey slate roof, stone skews, and scrolled rope-detailed skewputts. There is a coped gablehead stack on the outer left with moulded cans, and a mutual coped rubble stack on the outer right.
The interior was not seen in 1997.
