17 Market Square, Duns

17 Market Square in Duns is a mid-19th century building that features two storeys and an attic, with a two-bay shop on the ground floor and a flat above. The exterior is constructed from harled rubble with ashlar dressings, although the harling has been removed at the ground level.

On the right side of the ground floor, there is a three-bay timber shopfront that includes a central two-leaf panelled door, flanked by panelled pilasters with nailhead capitals and a dentilled cornice. This shopfront also has plate glass windows. To the left, there is a large modern two-pane plate glass shop window.

The first floor has a corniced tripartite window in each bay, and there are three piend-roofed dormers in the attic. The first-floor windows are timber sash and case with plate glass, and the dormer windows are timber tilt and swing. The roof is covered with grey slates and features brick stacks.
