Description
Kilmolymock Masonic Lodge, located at 15-17 High Street in Elgin, dates back to 1728. The ground floor was remodeled in 1971 by John Wright for the Elgin Fund. The building has three storeys and consists of two tenements with three and five bays, along with wings at the rear. It is constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings, and the gable and rear are harled.
The ground floor of both tenements features a symmetrical design, with a central segmental-headed arch leading to a pend, flanked by three-bay shop fronts that also include segmental-headed doorways and windows. The first and second floors have regular fenestration with 12-pane glazing, and there is a Venetian window in the central bay of the first floor at No 17. The building is topped with crowsteps, and there are skewputts to the southwest with a date and to the southeast with a mask. It has a coped ridge and gable stacks, and the roof is covered with slate.
