Description

This building, located at 23 High Street in Elgin, dates from around 1700 and was altered in 1853. It is a tall three-storey house with an attic and features three bays. The structure is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings. The central door is flanked by shop windows, and there are regular tall windows with 15-pane sashes on the first and second floors. The roof has three wallhead dormers with shaped pedimented gables. The central gable displays the date 1853, while the flanking gables bear the initials W M. The roof is finished with slate and has a stone ridge.
