Description

114-115 Albert Road in Gourock is a flatted villa built in the earlier to mid 19th century. It is two stories tall with an attic and features three bays, showcasing classical architectural details. The front is made of pink sandstone with an ashlar finish, while the sides are finished in droved ashlar and harl, and the rear is constructed from coursed and square stugged rubble. The building has a base course, shallow angle pilasters, and windows with raised margins and rounded arrises, with the ground floor windows corniced and featuring bracketed eaves.

The northwest (front) elevation includes a pilastered doorway with an advanced Doric columned doorpiece, regular fenestration above, and in the outer bays. There are two flat-roofed canted dormers. The southeast (rear) elevation has a curved rubble-built forestair with decorative cast-iron railings that provide access to a first-floor doorway, along with a light, decorative, trellised iron porch that has a modern roof, and windows in the outer bays. The rear also features modern box dormers.

The southwest elevation is gabled and has three bays with single windows, while the northeast elevation mirrors this with windows only in the center and right bays. Throughout the building, there are replacement windows. The roof is slate, with two gablehead stacks located on the southwest and northeast sides.

The interior was not seen in 1993. The property is bordered by a low rubble wall at the front, which includes three gatepiers with pedimented coping that borders the neighboring property.
