Description

80 and 82 Albert Road in Gourock is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey and attic, three-bay flatted villa featuring classical details. It is accompanied by a two-bay flatted block to the east. The front of the building is rendered, while the rear and sides are harled. Notable architectural elements include a base course, shallow angle pilasters, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The windows have raised margins, with the ground floor windows featuring cornices and bracketed cills.

On the northwest (front) elevation, the villa is situated to the right and has a central doorway with a panelled door and a two-pane fanlight above. This doorpiece is supported by fluted Doric columns and features a triglyph frieze and a dentilled cornice. The fenestration is regular, with windows flanking the doorway and on the first floor. There are three canted dormers with piended roofs. The two-bay block to the left has a plain doorway with a panelled door and a narrow two-pane fanlight positioned between the bays. There is an architraved window to the left and a pend to the right, with regular fenestration on the first floor and two canted dormers.

The southeast (rear) elevation features full-height, harled semicircular stairwells topped with half-conical roofs, with single windows at the centre of both the villa and the flatted block. Additional windows and dormers are located in the outer bays.

The southwest elevation is gabled with a truncated apex stack. Most windows have been replaced, but two 12-pane timber sash and case windows remain at the rear. The building has a slate roof with an apex and a mutual stack. The interior was not seen in 1993.
