45 Ashton Road, 44, 44A, Gourock

45 Ashton Road, 44, 44A in Gourock is an earlier to mid 19th century villa that stands two storeys high with an attic and features three bays. The building has classical details and is rendered. It includes a base course, rounded arrises, an eaves cornice with a blocking course, broad angle pilasters, and ground floor windows that are corniced with bracketed cills.

On the north (front) elevation, there is a central doorway flanked by Ionic pilasters, topped with a cornice and blocking course that bears a tablet. The doorway features a deep-set, two-leaf panelled door with a narrow two-pane fanlight above it. The fenestration is regular, and there are two canted dormers.

The east elevation has a gabled design with windows positioned in the centre. The west elevation is abutted by a later building. The villa has modern timber tilt and turn replacement windows and a slate roof, with gablehead and mutual (formerly gablehead) stacks on the east and west sides.

The interior was not seen in 1993. There is a low ashlar wall at the front, which includes a coped gatepier.
