Description

154 Hutcheon Street is an early 19th-century classical villa that features two storeys, an attic, and a basement, with a three-bay façade constructed from coursed granite ashlar. The building has a base course, a cill course at the first floor, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course.

The principal elevation is symmetrical, showcasing a corniced doorway in the centre bay that includes a panelled timber door and a tall three-pane fanlight. This doorway is flanked by round-arched niches on either side and blind bull's-eye openings above. There is a window with a projecting cill on the first floor, and the basement, ground, and first floors have regular fenestration in the advanced flanking bays. The attic features three gableted timber dormers.

The east elevation is obscured by an adjoining building, while the north and west elevations were not visible in 1999.

The villa predominantly has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and is topped with a piended grey slate roof that has lead ridges, with the west and east sides infilled. The gablehead and wallhead stacks are made of coped granite and have circular cans. The building also features cast-iron rainwater goods. The interior was not seen in 1999.
