Description
Mid 19th century. 2-storey and attic, 5-bay, rectangular-plan former pair of semi-detached houses, now subdivided into flats. Coursed granite ashlar to N and E elevations, rubble to S and W. Base course; recessed panels below projecting cills; segmental-arched openings to ground floor; dividing band course; deep eaves cornice; eaves blocking course; curvilinear gables; curvilinear gableted dormers.
N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: near-symmetrical; panelled timber door with segmental-arched fanlight to penultimate bay to right of ground floor, former doorway to penultimate bay to left, now glazed, regular fenestration to remaining bays; regular fenestration to 1st floor; eaves blocking course stepped-up to centre bay; dormer to each bay of attic floor.
W ELEVATION: asymmetrical; gabled; single storey single bay addition to right of ground floor, window to right return, window above to 1st floor, round-arched window to attic floor; 2-storey addition to bay to right, window to right return at 1st floor, window above to attic floor.
S ELEVATION: asymmetrical; glazed modern door to penultimate bay to right of ground floor, flanked to right and left by windows; flat-roofed and lean-to additions obscuring bays to left; irregular fenestration to remainder; 3 gableted dormers to attic floor.
E ELEVATION: symmetrical; 2-bay; regular fenestration to outer left and right of ground and 1st floors; round arched windows to attic floor.
Predominantly 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate mansard roof with lead ridges. Coped stone skews. Corniced granite gablehead stacks with octagonal cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIORS: not seen 1999.
GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALLS: square-plan stugged granite gatepiers to NE with decorative caps; coped rubble walls boundary walls some with brick coping.
