Description

2A View Terrace is a mid-19th century classical house with later additions and alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure featuring small wings. The south elevation is constructed from coursed granite ashlar, while the rest of the building is made of granite rubble. The house has a rough-faced base course, finely finished granite band courses, recessed cills on the ground floor, and an eaves course.

The principal elevation is symmetrical, featuring a modern timber door at the center of the ground floor with a two-pane fanlight, accessed by six stone steps with decorative iron railings. There is a balcony with iron railings between the basement and ground floors, and windows in the flanking bays on both the basement and ground floors. The first floor has regular fenestration. There are single-storey and basement wings on either side, each with deeply recessed windows at the center, an eaves blocking course, and a modern roof that is recessed on the left wing.

The east elevation is mostly obscured by a 20th-century harled gabled addition. The north elevation is near-symmetrical, featuring a broad doorway at the center of the ground floor with a modern door and a nine-pane fanlight above. There is a large stair window above the doorway, with two small windows flanking the center bay on either side, and regular fenestration on the basement, ground, and first floors of the adjacent bays. The west elevation has a single window at the center of the first floor and a wing adjoining to the right on the ground floor, which is harled with a modern roof.

The house features a variety of timber sash and case windows and has a piended purple-grey slate roof with lead ridges. Coped granite wallhead stacks with octagonal cans and cast-iron rainwater goods are also present.

Inside, some original cornicing, skirting boards, and doors have survived.

The property includes square-plan stugged granite gatepiers to the southwest with two-leaf iron gates, granite coped rubble walls, and brick coping to the north.
