Description

Mid 19th century with later additions and alterations. 2-storey, 3-bay classical house, with small wings. Coursed granite ashlar to S, granite rubble to remainder. Rough-faced base course; finely finished granite band courses; recessed cills to ground floor; eaves course.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical; modern timber door to centre of ground floor with 2-pane fanlight, reached by 6 stone steps with decorative iron railings, balcony with iron railings between basement and ground floors; windows to flanking bays to left and right of basement and ground floors; regular fenestration to 1st floor. Single storey and basement, single bay wings adjoining to left and right, with deeply recessed windows to centre; eaves blocking course, modern roof recessed to wing to left.

E ELEVATION: predominantly obscured by 20th century harled gabled addition.

N ELEVATION: near-symmetrical; broad doorway to centre of ground floor with modern door and 9-pane fanlight; large stair window above; 2 small windows flanking centre bay to left and right; regular fenestration to basement ground and 1st floors of bay to left and right.

W ELEVATION: single window to centre of 1st floor; wing adjoining to right of ground floor, harled with modern roof.

Variety of timber sash and case windows. Piended purple-grey slate roof with lead ridges. Coped granite wallhead stacks with octagonal cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: some original cornicing, skirting boards and doors survive.

GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALLS: square-plan stugged granite gatepiers to SW with 2-leaf iron gates, granite coped rubble walls, brick coping to N.
