Description
20 Blacket Place is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay classical villa with a rectangular plan. The building features polished ashlar stonework, rusticated at the ground level, with coursed rubble on the sides and rear. It has a base course, a dividing band course, a cornice, and a blocking course, along with lugged architraves on the first-floor windows.
On the south elevation, the entrance features a doorcase supported by fluted Greek Doric columns in front of single pilasters, which serves as the base for a Greek key pattern ironwork balcony above the central first-floor window. The entrance includes a four-panelled timber door with a three-pane fanlight above it, and there is a single window on the first floor above the door, as well as windows on both floors of the flanking bays. There are single-storey corniced walls adjoining to the east and west, with a four-panelled door to the east and a square opening to the west that leads to a piend-roofed stable that has been converted for garage use, featuring a two-leafed planked door and a square hatch above.
The villa has twelve-paned timber sash and case windows and a grey slate piended roof, with coped wallhead stacks.
The interior was not seen in 1996.
To the right of the driveway, there is a low coped boundary wall with bollards, along with a low coped boundary wall along the street.
