Description

Pre 1856. 2-storey and attic 4-bay flatted double villa with classical details. Yellow sandstone, ashlar front, coursed and squared stugged rubble to sides, coursed rubble to rear. Tall base course; dividing band course above ground floor; eaves cornice with ashlar parapet; rusticated quoins; basket-arched windows with recessed aprons to principal floor.

NE (FRONT) ELEVATION: elevations mirrored about centre; round-arched doorways to centre bays, accessed by steps, with consoled cornices above. Regular fenestration. Canted dormer to right, modern box dormer to left.

NW ELEVATION: gabled; windows to centre and right bay.

SW ELEVATION: gabled; later brick-built forestair to centre, windows to left.

SE (REAR) ELEVATION: semicircular stair tower (originally 1 of pair) to right with small brick-built privy added. Small lean-to addition to left.

Mostly timber sash and case window with plate glass glazing, some modern replacement windows, some 12-pane windows to rear. Slate roof; gablehead stack to SW.

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.

Low rubble wall to front, taller boundary walls to rear and sides.
