Bessie Bar's Cottage, Sandhaven, Culross

Bessie Bar's Cottage in Sandhaven, Culross, was built in 1796 and is a two-storey house with a rectangular plan and a pend on the east side. The exterior is harled, with painted ashlar surrounds framing the door and windows.

On the north elevation, there is a near-central door with a National Trust for Scotland plaque above it and a lintel dated 1796. This elevation features single windows flanking the door and three windows on the first floor. The pend opening is located at the far left, with a chamfer and stop on the left quoin and an exposed stone arch.

The east elevation adjoins Sandhaven House (Tarnawski).

The south elevation also has a near-central door with single windows flanking it. There is a pend at the far right and an exposed stone arch, along with four windows on the first floor and two projecting stones at the far left.

The west elevation was not visible in 2001. The cottage features replacement 12-pane timber sash and case windows and a timber boarded door. The roof is pitched, with clay pantiles on the south side and slates on the north side. There are stone screws and scroll skewputts on the north elevation, along with coped gable apex stacks.

The interior was not seen in 2001, but a modern pend has been inserted.
