Dalmah, Sandhaven, Culross

Dalmah is an 18th-century, two-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan house located in Sandhaven, Culross. The exterior features exposed tooled stone with ashlar surrounds around the windows and door, along with vertical margins and an eaves course. A cavetto eaves cornice adds to its architectural detail.

On the west elevation, which is the principal elevation, the house presents a symmetrical façade with a central door flanked by single windows. Above, there are three first-floor windows aligned with the eaves, although the central window has been blocked.

The north elevation adjoins another house, G Mackenzie. The east elevation includes a central window on both the ground and first floors, with an additional ground floor window to the right. The south elevation features two ground floor windows and a first-floor window to the right.

The house has replacement eight-pane timber sash and case windows with horns, as well as a replacement glazed and timber door. The roof is pitched and covered with interlocking tiles, and there are coped gable apex stacks.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 2001, and the ground floor is situated below the exterior ground floor level.
