Description
The Bowling Pavilion on Main Road in East Wemyss was designed by Alexander Stewart Tod around 1930. It is a single-storey, five-bay structure serving as a bowling club pavilion. The building features a loggia supported by Doric columns, a piended roof, and an ogee-capped roof tower. The exterior is harled with painted margins and includes a base course, lintel, and eaves cornices. The windows are round-headed with keystones.
On the southeast elevation, the central bay has steps and low flanking walls that lead to the loggia, which contains a recessed door and square-headed windows on either side. There are additional windows in the flanking bays and further windows on the returns, with lower recessed outer bays. The central area also features a reconstructed ornamental ogee-capped belltower.
The roof is covered with red Coutra tiles, and there are cast-iron downpipes with decorative rainwater hoppers.
Adjacent to the bowling green, there is an ashlar terrace wall with a deep stone balustrade and cornice, along with pyramidally-coped, square-section gatepiers that flank the steps leading to the northeast and southwest, which provide access to the Memorial Garden.
