Description

The Pavilion in Victoria Park, Taybridge Terrace, Aberfeldy, was designed by William Bell in 1906. It is a single-storey, three-bay structure with a rectangular plan and a deeply swept bellcast roof that overhangs the eaves, providing cover for a rustic columned veranda on the southeast and northwest sides. The exterior features slatted timber with a decoratively-carved cornice, along with timber transoms and mullions.

On the southeast elevation, which faces the bowling green, the design is symmetrical. It includes a decorative part-glazed, semi-circular pediment at the center of the veranda roof, flanked by a set-back two-leaf part-glazed timber door and transomed four-light windows on either side. The northwest elevation, which overlooks the tennis courts, mirrors this design but features a timber panelled entrance door instead.

The southwest elevation has three transomed bipartite windows, while the northeast elevation includes three single windows. The windows are fitted with plate glass glazing, and the roof is a louvered swept sheet metal gambrel style. A banded and corniced central brick chimney stack with a can is also present.

Inside, as observed in 2013, the pavilion is timber-lined and includes shelving, original seating, lockers, bowling racks, and timber fireplaces.
