Carding Mill And Steam Roller, Taybridge Terrace, Aberfeldy

The Carding Mill and Steam Roller on Taybridge Terrace in Aberfeldy is an earlier to mid 19th-century, two-storey and attic, seven-bay rectangular-plan mill. It is constructed of rubble with stone cills and voussoired segmental-headed openings.

The southwest elevation features a M-gabled design with a broad two-leaf timber door at the center, accompanied by a boarded timber fanlight at ground level. Above this, there is another two-leaf boarded timber door, with a window in the bay to the right on each floor. To the left, there is a small lean-to extension with an additional window on the first floor.

The northeast elevation has a similar M-gabled appearance, with a full-width extension at ground level and two blocked windows above on the first and attic floors.

The southeast elevation displays seven regularly spaced windows on each floor, along with a later single-storey flat-roofed bay on the outer right side. The northwest elevation mirrors this design.

Throughout the building, the timber windows feature a 20-pane glazing pattern. The roofing is covered with tarred felt, and there are coped ashlar gablehead stacks, with the one on the northwest being rendered.

Inside, the mill contains cast-iron columns and mechanised spinning and weaving machinery.
