Description

Mid Mill is a former thread mill built in 1815, featuring three storeys and a rear L-plan wing. The wing is harled, while the rest of the building is constructed from exposed rubble.

On the east elevation, there is an advanced section on the left with a ground floor window at the far left, a first floor window above it to the left, and a second floor window to the right. A metal mill wheel is located to the right of the first floor window. There is a glazed ground floor door in the right return of the advanced section. To the right, a bay is set back with a single central window on both the first and second floors.

The north elevation has a central door and a first floor window. The rear wing is set back to the right and features irregularly placed windows, with five ground floor and three first floor windows.

On the west elevation, there is a door to the left, with a flanking window at the far left and a ground floor window at the far right. Above the door, there is a first floor window to the right and another to the far right. There are pairs of second floor windows to both the right and left. The centre has an advanced two-storey rear wing with a plain gable, an extended section to the right, a glazed door, and a window above.

The south elevation features an advanced section at the far left with a ground floor window and a large first floor window above. There is a ground floor window in the right return. A section is set back to the right, with a door to the left, a stair window above to the right, and two ground floor windows to the right, along with two first floor windows. The gable wall of the mill building has a central arrangement of single ground, first, and second floor windows.

The building has replacement 12-pane timber sash and case windows and glazed doors. The roof is covered with clay pantiles, sloping apart from the gable wallhead of the rear wing, which has a coped gable end stack. There is a lead-coped, timber louvred vent that was part of the former kiln.

The interior was not seen in 2000.
