Description
Gawbridge Mill is an 18th-century mill of rubble construction, largely coursed and squared, with coped verges and tile roofs. It is rectangular in plan and has a mill race running underneath the building. The mill rises three floors and features 2- and 3-light stone-mullioned windows, some retaining iron casements with square-paned lights, although some 20th-century casements have been inserted. The ground floor has three door openings, one with a semi-circular head and 2-plank doors. There are two openings into the first floor, one also containing a plank door. A slated hoist, gabled and with galvanised metal sheeting, leads to the attic. A single-storeyed extension is attached to the south side, finished with pantiles. The interior contains an iron water wheel and original machinery, with the wheel itself in particularly good condition.
