Description
Carey's Mill Bridge is a road bridge that crosses the River Parrett, likely built in the 18th century. It is constructed from ham stone ashlar and features a single segmental arch. The side walls are slightly arched and have plain angled copings, with circular piers at each end. On the north-west corner, there is a stone stile or squeeze made of two shaped stones that taper to a narrow opening. To the south-east, a return wall made of cut and squared stonework connects to the boundary wall of Parrett House. In the north-west wall of Parrett House, there is a segmental arched outlet for the mill-stream, which includes side piers and a nearby weir, all part of the extensive mill and works establishment at this location.
