Wemyss Parish Church And War Memorial, Main Street, East Wemyss

Wemyss Parish Church and War Memorial, located on Main Street in East Wemyss, was built around 1920, with an additional memorial added around 1945. The war memorial is situated in a semicircular enclosure made of ashlar stone, featuring square-section piers that are integrated into the boundary wall of St Mary's By-The-Sea, the former parish church. It is surrounded by decorative iron railings topped with thistle finials.

At the center, there is a two-stage pier with a deep plinth that supports a granite lectern commemorating those who fell during 1939-1945. The first stage of the pier has a panel with a carved roll-call of the fallen, topped with the inscription 'IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF EAST WEMYSS WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR', along with additional names on smaller flanking tablets that are adorned with carved scrollwork. The second stage is stepped and leads up to a bronze statue of a soldier.

The flanking quadrant walls feature ironwork inscriptions of '1914' on the left and '1918' on the right, with a deep stone balustrade and a moulded cornice that transitions to step-coped outer piers topped with ball finials.
