Description
Wolfstar Farmhouse is an earlier 19th century, two-storey building with a basement and a rectangular plan, designed in a classical style. It features a lower gabled projection at the rear. The sides and rear are constructed of cream and grey sandstone rubble, while the main elevation is finished in ashlar, with raised quoins, a base course, and an eaves course.
The south elevation has three bays, complete with a cornice and blocking course. The central bay is advanced and features a pediment, with a curved flight of steps leading to the doorway, which has architraves and a cornice. The entrance includes a panelled two-leaf door and a decorative fanlight, with wrought-iron railings. There is a window in each outer bay and above the central door on this elevation.
On the north elevation, there is an off-centre gabled projection to the right, which includes a door to the basement and regular windows above and on the return elevations. The east elevation has a window on the principal floor and a smaller window on the first floor, along with a lean-to porch at the basement level.
The west elevation features a door and a window at ground level, with another window at the centre of both the principal and first floors. Inside, there is a winding stair and a depressed arch leading to the hall. The sash and case windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates and has ashlar coping on the gabled projection at the rear.
The property is also marked by decorative cast-iron gateposts with finials at the entrance.
