Description

Earlier 19th century with later alterations. 2 storey and basement,

3 bay symmetrical classical house; single storey wing adjoining to N. Cream sandstone ashlar, slightly stugged to basement, single storey wing and 1st floor, polished at ground; coursed rubble to sides and rear, harled to S. Base course; cill course to architraved 1st floor windows; cornice and blocking course raised at centre.

W (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: steps to central doorway; panelled door; plate glass fanlight; engaged Ionic columns to corniced doorpiece; single window to 1st floor above. Single windows set in round arched panels at ground floor to outer left and right; single windows to 1st floor above. Large central window in advanced panel to single storey wing.

S ELEVATION: single central windows to ground and 1st floors.

E (GRANTULLY PLACE) ELEVATION: irregular fenestration; 3 light canted window to 1st floor outer left; 3 bay box dormer above.

Plate glass, timber sash and case windows. Grey slate piended roof; corniced wallhead stacks; moulded octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1996.

BOUNDARY WALLS: low coursed and coped wall to street; replacement railings; high rubble wall to N terminating in panelled pier.
