Description

14 Straiton Place is an early 19th century single-storey house with a basement and three bays, designed in a classical style. The exterior features finely droved ashlar stonework, with the basement harled and the rear and side elevations constructed of sandstone rubble. Notable architectural elements include a band course, cornice, and blocking course, along with broad Doric clasping pilasters. The principal northeast elevation has a raised bay at the center, which is accessed by six steps leading to a panelled door topped with a plate glass rectangular fanlight and a pilaster colonnade doorpiece. There are windows in the flanking bays on each level, and a small extension to the central bay at the rear.

The ground floor windows are timber sash and case with plate glass, while the basement features 4-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and has a piended design, with a rendered coped wallhead stack on the southeast side and a truncated stack on the northwest elevation.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1994. The boundary walls are a later addition, harled and topped with battlements.
